Building Ventures is pleased to announce that Heather Widman has joined the firm as a Principal. Adding Heather to the team will help Building Ventures fulfill our mission to identify, mentor and help build some of the most impactful startups across the Construction and Real Estate technology landscape.
Heather’s fifteen years in the tech sector have afforded her opportunities to develop wide-ranging expertise spanning product management, marketing, customer experience and sales. She has deep roots in the Boston startup and venture ecosystem, where she has held cross-functional leadership positions within multiple organizations. Most recently she led the Product, Customer and Brand Marketing functions at WordStream, an advertising-focused SaaS organization acquired by Gannett in 2018. Prior to joining WordStream, she held product management and marketing leadership positions at Boston startup ownerIQ and Fortune 25 Express Scripts in St. Louis, MO. Heather is an active member of MassTLC and MITX, as well as a MassChallenge Expert, serving as an advisor to participating startups and helping to adjudicate the accelerator’s annual competition.
Co-Founder and General Partner, Travis Connors, worked closely with Heather previously at ownerIQ, where she served as VP of Product Marketing for the advertising technology startup. “Heather will be a tremendous resource to our portfolio of sapling-stage companies as they develop their go-to-market strategies. She is an expert at defining, launching, and positioning products across numerous industries.”
“We wanted to add someone who will help us to evangelize our vision for a better built world,” adds Co-Founder and General Partner, Jesse Devitte. “Heather’s extensive marketing experience and propensity for mission-driven leadership makes her that perfect complement to our founding team.”
“I am thrilled to join these talented and experienced partners,” shares Heather. “The team at Building Ventures is truly focused on fostering innovation in the built environment by investing in and advising founders passionate about solving the challenges of the sector. I especially look forward to helping our portfolio companies bring their new products to market.”
