As we’re heading into the end of the year here in Boston, we have snow on the ground, lights shining on our office trees, and a lot to reflect on for the year. In 2024, we welcomed a new teammate (hard to believe it’s been less than a year, Lucas!); our team spoke at conferences far afield in Paris and Copenhagen as well as those closer to home in Boston, New York, and San Francisco; we launched our own content series defining our vision for a better built world, and we shared our ideas with Building Transformations, RIBA, and more; finally, we gathered our members of our network for an amazing, memorable BVIN Fall Summit in NYC. We’re pleased with our activities this year, but, as always, we’re proudest of our portcos and their accomplishments. Our companies have been hard at work releasing new products, landing significant customers and partners, expanding into new markets, and so much more. Plus, we welcomed more impressive startups to our portfolio—including two recent investments that we can’t wait to share with you in the new year.

BVIN Fall Summit 2024: Drawing New Lines
In October, we hosted our fall summit at The Standard, High Line in New York City. We had a great lineup of engaging speakers and panelists who spent the day discussing AI, cybersecurity, sustainability, and much more. Plus, we were able to honor BXP CTO Jim Whalen with the Building Ventures Innovator Award. Allen Preger wrote up a recap of the day here.
BV Activity
This fall, Travis spoke on a panel at CREtech about the state of global climate tech investing with Ali Hoss of Triovest, Raj Singh of JLL Spark, and Faisal Butt of Pi Labs. You can watch the recording here on CREtech+.
Heather joined the ULI TREC Blue Product council and attended the fall meeting, where she moderated a panel on the future of mobility. Heather also attended the All Raise VC Summit and co-chaired the fundraising committee for the event.
Last month, Jesse and Allen attended BuiltWorlds Venture East in Boston. Allen spoke at the Venture Forum, and Jesse delivered the keynote address at the main event.
In January 2025, Lucas will be speaking at the BuiltWorlds Finance and Insurance Tech Conference in Chicago. He’ll be attending the ESG & Decarbonization Real Estate Forum in Nashville in February.
Also in February, Mayra will be a demo day judge at BuiltWorlds AI/ML Conference in Atlanta.
