Building Ventures is pleased to announce our founding investment in Hypar, an early stage startup creating a generative design platform to accelerate the delivery of a better built environment.
We’ve been following Hypar’s co-founders for some time. CEO Ian Keough is best known as the ‘Father’ of Dynamo, the visual programming interface for Autodesk Revit which he originally invented while at BuroHappold to solve the firm’s hairiest design challenges. A prolific developer then as now, he also wrote one of the first iOS apps to view BIM (Building Information Modeling) models. This brought Ian to field construction startup Vela Systems and ultimately to Autodesk, where he met his Hypar co-founder and President Anthony Hauck. At Autodesk, Anthony led the Revit Product Management team through its formative years of the Revit API and collaborative solutions, playing an active role in helping to move the industry from CAD to BIM.
Hypar’s vision is to transform building design and delivery by enabling owners, real estate developers, architects, and engineers to leverage their expertise through scalable cloud computing to more widely explore ‘what-if’ solutions to complex design challenges. While it’s a big vision, Ian and Anthony are two of the industry’s leading voices advancing the potential of generative design, and we’re excited to be in a position to contribute to their success.
“We’re thrilled that Building Ventures has invested in Hypar,” adds Ian. “I can’t imagine a better venture partner with the experience, insight and reach to help us accelerate towards our vision of generating the built environment.”
Hypar is where architectural, engineering and construction expertise can reside and be made available on a worldwide basis. Check it out at Hypar.io.
