Principal

As a principal at Building Ventures, Lucas covers both the construction tech and proptech verticals at Building Ventures. He brings seven years of investment experience to the team. Prior to joining Building Ventures, Lucas was a principal at the venture capital firm TMV, where he was a generalist investor focused on Seed and Series A investments across multiple funds. While at TMV, Lucas performed due diligence and financial modeling, supported the general development of the firm, and served as a board member and board observer for portfolio companies. TMV is a co-investor in Building Ventures portfolio company Canoa, and Lucas began working with Heather and Travis through the company in 2020.

Prior to TMV, Lucas was the fund manager for The Ujima Fund, a loan fund investing in under-resourced entrepreneurs in Boston.  In this role, Lucas provided support to entrepreneurs, managed the firm’s investment committee, and led the underwriting for the firm’s initial investments. After his time at The Ujima Fund, Lucas joined the board of the community development financial institution CFNE where he sat on the loan committee and reviewed over 80 investments during his three-year tenure.

In addition to his experience as an investor, Lucas has worked as a policy analyst, strategic consultant, and entrepreneur. He brings this first-hand knowledge of launching and running a business and empathy for the complex challenges that arise to his partnerships with startup founders today.

Originally from the Boston area, Lucas received his BA from Wesleyan University and earned his MBA along with a certificate in sustainable business from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, where he was Consortium Fellow. He currently lives in Cambridge, MA, and works at Building Ventures headquarters in Boston.
