Today, few forces are more visible—or more pressing—for the construction industry than the explosive demand for data centers. Over the past year alone, developers, contractors, and investors have seen data center projects move from niche projects to mainstream priorities, from specialized outlier jobs to opportunities overwhelming the pipeline. And with recent news for more data centers, including Nvidia’s plans to invest up to $100 billion in a 10GW scale installation, this demand will continue to shape the building industry for some time.

Exactly how this will shape the industry remains a question. The technical requirements of these facilities—specialized cooling, redundancy, and security—require innovation across materials, design, and project delivery. The opportunity is considerable, but the pressure is, too.

Like any rapid transformation, this surge in data center development raises challenges, including contending with energy allocation, sustainability requirements, and, perhaps most simply, how the built environment will adapt. But it also highlights a central truth: the future of our industry is tied to the future of technology.

Our portfolio companies are keenly aware of this, as you can see from their work below. We’ve rounded up the latest news, including new product launches, AI-driven exploration and industry discussions, and more. You’ll also find pictures from our BVIN Happy Hour last week in Las Vegas, as well as updates from our team.
