Last month, we hosted a special BVIN Spring Session on AI in Action: Construction Tech Disruptors for a Better Built World in San Francisco. During the event, our growth-stage contech founders shared their use of AI in product offerings now and going forward before responding to rapid-fire questions from a panel of the industry’s thought leaders.
We believe that both legacy institutions and new startups will be able to transform construction by riding this AI wave, as we’ve all witnessed in other industries. But when it comes to applications in the construction industry, we can’t lose sight of the pains and limitations of the field. This is precisely the reason that we have structured our approach at Building Ventures to look into the foundational building blocks that touch every workflow in the industry.
We believe there are core competencies in the construction industry necessary to execute the projects. Things like pre-construction workflows and building codes, project controls and materials procurement—these are so embedded in the construction industry that disruption requires deep understanding of the problem.
For many of these core competencies, we have already backed bright entrepreneurs who have not only this deep understanding, but also a proven earned secret. This includes, of course, the founders who shared their company’s mission and growth plans at our event. For other foundational building blocks, Building Ventures is still on the lookout for visionaries who are on a mission to improve how we design, construct, and operate our buildings. As always, if this is you or someone you know, please get in touch.
Now, we encourage you to take a look at the updates below from all of our startups working across the building lifecycle. We’re thrilled to see these portfolio companies garnering media recognition for their work, launching case studies with key industry players, expanding their product offerings with leading partners, and so much more.
We hope to see you there. In the meantime, have a wonderful summer!
